ITEM BACKGROUND: The Airport has applied to the SFWMD for a permit for the Taxiway A project. The project is being funded by a grant from the FAA and is designed to provide aircraft an additional 280 feet to the west to eliminate the need for aircraft to back-taxi along the runway, and to improve efficiency and safety of airport operations. The project includes off-site mitigation at the Hawk Missile Site and on a portion of Tarpon Belly Key, and as a condition to receiving permitting, the South Florida Water Management District requires the County to enter into a conservation easement or other equivalent document pursuant to Florida Statue section 704.06.
