The completion of this important project will result in long delayed street improvements in the project area. I have been told that the county had delayed street repairs in the Little Venice sewer area for a number of years prior to the City of Marathon incorporation. Obviously, this was a very practical decision, knowing that the streets were going to be tom up d~ng sewer construction. Because the county delayed street repairs, money was left in your fund balance for these purposes. I would like to request that the county fund up to $500,000 to have streets repaved within the Little Venice sewer service area sometime after the first of the year. If you have any questions, please contact me. Sincerely, W. Scott Janke City Manager MEMORANDUM TO: James L. Roberts County Administrator FROM: David S. Koppel C>> County Engineer ' , DATE: August 15,2003 RE: Little Venice, Marathon Attached please find a copy of the relevant page from the August 1998 Seven Year Road Plan which was the latest plan containing roads in Marathon. The plan contained 23 roads in Little Venice and $136,310 was estimated for repaving. All roads in Marathon were omitted the next time the Seven-Year Plan was prepared, which went to the BOCC in January 2000. Marathon officially incorporated on November 30, 1999 and became ope~rational February 24, 2000. The money was never actually set aside since the work was still five years out when the plan was developed. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.
