AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Presentation of "Employee of the Quarter" for the Fourth Quarter
of 2022 to Ilze Aguila, Planning Commission Supervisor.
ITEM BACKGROUND: This program was established to provide a means whereby the Monroe
County Board of County Commissioners may publicly acknowledge and monetarily reward the
efforts of those County employees who demonstrate an interest and dedication to a job performance
above and beyond job expectations.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners and the County Administrator determined that
there was a need to recognize outstanding performance of Monroe County employees. Reference
(A) and previous actions established an Employee of the Month/Employee of the Year program. At
the August Personnel Policies and Procedures Committee meeting, it was voted to revise the current
award of a monthly award to a quarterly award. The Employee of the Year award will remain as it is
currently provided as part of this Administrative Instruction. The BOCC approved the changes at
the October 19, 2011 meeting.

2.16 EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION
A. EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER/YEAR PROGRAM
Monroe County has established an Employee Service Award which is designed to recognize
employees who demonstrate superior performance and dedication to their work which is above
and beyond the call of duty.
(See Monroe County Administrative Instruction Series 4000.) The employee selected for the
quarter shall be awarded a$300 one-time lump sum payment and an appreciation plaque. The
employee of the year shall receive a one-time lump sum payment of$3,000 and an appreciation
plaque.

Ilze Aguila is an incredible asset to our team, the Planning & Environmental Resources Department and
Monroe County. She exceeds job expectations, demonstrating noteworthy performances and has a
positive impact on coworkers and customers, alike.
Ilze has gone above and beyond by learning GIS software to create the maps required for public notice,
staff reports and individual requests. This skill acquisition exceeds expectations and is an immeasurable
asset to the Department. More impressive, Ilze developed this expertise on her own initiative, in addition
to her demanding workload.
Her contributions are continuous. When the Department needed assistance in completing ROGO letters,
Ilze volunteered to learn the process. This learning not only aided her colleagues and applicants, it
demonstrates her willingness to do what is helpful.
Ilze's positive can-do attitude coupled with strong organization allow her colleagues to focus on their
specific responsibilities. She shows the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing deadlines,
priorities and individual needs. As a result, the Department is more efficient. This skill is demonstrated
each time a projects' timeline is revised with minimal notice. For example, a customer requested
placement on an agenda for an upcoming meeting after our internal deadlines passed. Ilze was able to
revise the public notice, obtain approval from relevant parties, procure the required publication and
update all related documents. This commitment results in a positive experience for the public that is
interacting with the Department.
As Planning Commission Coordinator, Ilze is the face and voice of the Department. Her contact with the
public begins before the acceptance of applications and proceeds through the entire process. Ilze is the
consistent and exceptional resource that the public and staff rely on. Ilze is the colleague you want on
your team.
