The impact collaborative is where Extension program teams from across the country come to take a deep dive into program planning using skill-building tools. Teams are connected with subject matter experts in a variety of fields to help fill gaps in their program planning. Agents receive training in skill-building to catalyze innovation with Extension programs locally. Since 2019, Extension teams that Packet Pg. 2134 N.1.a have incubated through the Impact Collaborative have received more than $5.7M in grant and partnership funding. 93% of participants identified new skills, tools, and resources to help move their projects and programs to the next level. • Alicia and some of the CIVIC team worked to edit the National Issues Forum, Climate Choices guide to help people think about community-based solutions to climate change and we are updating this guide to include examples that speak to local efforts. Communities wanting to have a deliberate dialogue about climate choices will be able to pick from a drawdown menu of options that reflects their communities' needs and culture. • Alicia is working with Paul Evens from the UF, Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, and the Croc Docs project, teaching people to identify and report invasive species. They have reached over 1300 individuals through 16 outreach events and seminars. In the first six months of this project, they have attained 200%more public reports of invasive species than the previous year in the upper and middle keys. This conference is student- focused for undergraduate and graduate students presenting research on invertebrates, aquaculture, and submerged aquatic vegetation. • Shelly returned to the Boy Scouts of America Brinton Science Center on Summerland Key for the 71h year of teaching and training the spring STEM teachers about stony coral tissue loss disease underwater observer training and Florida Keys Water Watch. Card Sound Road Mill/resurface/restriping: • Staff requested that FDOT program SCOP grant funds in the amount of$2,419,722 (75% of construction phase estimate) in its work program in fiscal year 2023 to partially fund construction and CEI. Affordable Housing Unit • Personnel change within contractors' organization has delayed the completion of the interior. Expected interior completion by the end of January. Long Key Transfer Station Metal Building and Recycle Bin Repairs: • The project is completed, contract manager working on close-out documents. 8 Packet Pg. 2141 N.1.a Marathon, Tax Collector Seawall: • The County is negotiating an agreement with FP&L to provide us with wetland offset credits. FP&L issued an agreement for us to sign, however, The County would like FP&L to include federal language with the agreement. The County is waiting for a response from FP&L. If they agree to the changed verbiage, we will execute the agreement with FP&L. If they refuse to include the language, we will include their refusal as an attachment to our purchase agreement. We have not received a formal response from FP&L. No change from December. MCSO Stock Island Jail and Admin Flood Panels: • Estimated installation of late February • The County is reviewing the manufacturer proposed by the contractor before placing the order. Q Veteran's Memorial Park: N ADA Pavilion & Tiki Huts • Project experiencing procurement delay for the pavilion structure; expected fabrication completion timeframe is March. Delivery timeframe not established at this time. 1- • Tiki construction building permit issued 12/02/22. 0 • Upon layout of the replacement tiki huts, it was determined that due to beach erosion 0 experienced during the latest Hurricane Ian, that the tiki locations will need to be shifted W back away from the water to avoid the tiki being partially submerged at high tide. • Received confirmation from Julie Cuneo that we can proceed with shifting tiki's further away from the water. Replacement of the tiki huts will be scheduled to proceed in February. Bathroom Repairs • Building Dept: Flood Review determined repair costs exceed 50% of building's value 0 which would require flood proofing or elevating the building. • It's been determined that with expected flood velocities exceeding 5 ft/sec; flood proofing the building is not an option per the Flood Provisions of the Florida Building Code ASCE 24-14 Flood Resistant Design and Construction. 2 T_ • Elevating building which would result in replacement appears to be only path forward at this time. U • Received approval from Julie Cuneo to move forward with cancelling current construction contract and issuing task order for design of new elevated bathroom building to comply with FEMA requirements and Florida Building Code. Hurricane Ian Repairs Following is a list of the remaining locations damaged by Hurricane Ian. Higgs Beach&West Martello: • Key West Garden Club working with County to assemble documentation of volunteer work and paid receipts for repair of Hurricane Ian damage. Repairs not completed will be included in the Higgs Beach"large project" contract by Project Management. • High priority repair work, such replacement of asphalt walkway, replacement of playground equipment, etc., being completed by Parks & Beaches and/or Facilities staff. • Repairs to West Martello and/or African Cemetery may be separated into stand-alone 9 Packet Pg. 2142 N.1.a projects because of historical significance.
