ITEM BACKGROUND: Monroe County Fire Rescue (MCFR) is requesting BOCC approval to execute a First Renewal Agreement with Life Extension Clinics Inc. (LifeScan)to perform annual physical examinations of MCFR personnel in accordance with NFPA 1582 pursuant to Chapter 7, Section E of the Monroe County Purchasing Policy, and authority for the Fire Chief to execute all necessary documents. The total cost for an estimated 153 annual physical examinations at$455.00 per employee is $69,615.00. NFPA recommends all active firefighters, regardless of age, to have an annual physical examination and stress test.
