A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA
TO AUTHORIZE THE EXPENDITURE OF UP TO $49,999.99 IN TOURIST' DEVELOPMENT TAX
REVENUES TO FUND THE COMMISSIONING OF DDG123 LENAH SUTCLIFFE HIGBEE EVENT ON
MAY 13TH,2023,ON THE MOLE PIER IN KEY WEST,FLORIDA.
WHEREAS,The Commissioning of USS Lenah Sutcliffe Higbee DDG 123 will take place in Key West
on May 13th 2023 at the US Navy Truman Annex mole pier. This event fits perfectly with the Monroe
County 200th anniversary celebration in showcasing the Navy's long history in the Keys. This is a national
level event that is open to the public and is expected to draw more than 5000 guests. The local host
organization is the Navy League Key West Council;and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) hereby finds that the
Event has one of.its main purposes the attraction of tourist in accordance with the F.S. 125.0104(5) and
will enhance the 200th anniversary celebration therefore authorizes that tourist development tax
revenues be allocated for the promotion of the Commissioning of DDG123 Lenah Sutcliffe Higbee(Event).
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA,as follows:
1. The BOCC hereby authorizes the allocation of up to $49,999.99 in tourist development tax
revenues for the Commissioning of DDG123 Lenah Sutcliffe Higbee Event to take place on May
13th,2023,on the Mole Pier in Key West, Florida.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a meeting
of said Board held on the 22nd day of March 2023.
