LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMORIAL WEEK
BY CRAIG CATES, MAYOR OF MONROE COUNTY
A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers steadfastly provide an extraordinary level of
service for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, under often-difficult and
dangerous circumstances; and
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers and their loved ones must live with the possibility
of life-threatening violence every day they are on the job; and
WHEREAS, as a consequence of this danger, many law enforcement officers have made
the supreme sacrifice for their communities; and
WHEREAS, hundreds of courageous public safety officers lost their lives in the tragedies
of September 11, 2001; and

WHEREAS,law enforcement officers and grateful citizens pause every year to honor the W
memory of these officers and the officers who have lost their lives serving
the citizens of Monroe County

In the "Southernmost County of the Continental United States". I urge all citizens,
residents and visitors of Monroe County to remember those law enforcement officers
who fell holding the thin, blue line that stands between good and evil. I invite our E
community to attend the Law Enforcement Ceremony on Friday, May 19th at 5:00 p.m. at 2
the Bayview Park in Key West.
