In order to expedite these projects and ensure compliance with grant requirements, various ARPA-funded projects have been combined into one Task Order to be issued to McFarland-Johnson, Inc. for the design and engineering services of various ARPA-funded projects throughout the Keys. CL 4- 0 TASK 4:CRAWL KEY BURN SIMULATOR-MONROE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE TRAINING ACADEMY This assignment includes two phases. The first phase is preparing a high-level cost-benefit analysis to install/construct a Burn Simulator Building on the existing Monroe County Fire Rescue Training Academy facilities. The intention is to compare the benefit-cost of a prefabricated steel building vs. on-site '- concrete building construction. The Design Phase considers only the design elements necessary for the erection of a prefabricated steel building equal to or similar to the Wesco Model FF-3 (Deputy Chief) Tower. 0 The existing training facilities contain two primary buildings. One of the buildings is the Fire Training Academy which houses the classrooms, and the other one is the training Tower; neither of them is a burn simulator and is to remain. The academy is currently used for burning simulation connex boxes next to the Training Tower. These boxes' use and training capabilities are limited; thus, the Department -119 U) desires to replace those with a fully functional burn simulator building. Additionally, the Fire Department intends to clear the site of the existing burn simulation connex boxes and other boxes used for storage around the facility. The Fire & Rescue Department intends to resurface the Bay floors with epoxy or similar treatment to extend the life and aesthetics of the existing slabs. In addition, per the information provided by the CL Client, the slab on fire station # 22 shows concrete spalling, and rebars are exposed at some locations. This condition will require a different approach, and structural engineering evaluations will be necessary ,- to prepare recommendations, repair methods, and treatments.
