PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On June 15, 2011, the BOCC approved a lease agreement with the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade[iMonroe commencing July 1, 2011 and terminating June 30, 2012. WHEREAS, on June 15, 2011, the BOCC approved a lease agreement with The Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe commencing July 1, 2011 and terminating June 30, 2012; and WHEREAS, the BOCC has determined that is in the best interests of Monroe County to lease unused office space at the Gato Building; and NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises and covenants set forth below, the parties agree to amend the current lease agreement as follows: 1. Section 2 is hereby amended to read as follows: 2. TERM. The term of this Agreement is for a period of one year beginning July 01, 2012 through June 30, 2013. In all other respects the lease agreement approved on June 15, 2011, remains in full force and effect. WHEREAS, the BCC leases premises to other governmental agencies and not -for -profit organizations servicing the County community; and WHEREAS, the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Cade/Monroe has requested use of County office space; and WHEREAS, the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe provides school readiness and voluntary prekindergarten programs; and WHEREAS, the COUNTY owns an office building known as the Cato Building at 1100 Simonton Street, Key West, Florida; and WHEREAS, the Cato Building has a number of vacant offices due to the reduction of the County workforce; and WHEREAS, the BOCC has determined that is in the best interests of Monroe County to lease unused office space at the Gato Building; NOW THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION of the promises contained herein the parties agree to the following: 1. ERQEjR Ty. The COUNTY leases exclusively to the LESSEE 434 square feet of office space; offices 1-201, 1-204, and 1-205 in the Gato Building and which is shown on Exhibit A, hereafter the premises. Exhibit A is attached and made a part of this Agreement, 2IERM. The term of this Agreement Is for a period of one year beginning July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012, LESSOR may, at its sole discretion, approve a request from LESSEE to rermw the term of this least for (1) one additional (1) Year period upon submission, at least 30 days prior to the termination date of the initial term, of a written request by LESSEE to renew the term of this Lease Agreement. If LESSOR approves the renewal request, such renewal shall be upon the same terms and conditions contained in this Agreement. 3. VSg_ANQ gQjNPIjjQNS. The premises shall be used solely for the purposes of coordinating the delivery of school readiness and voluntary prekindergarten programs in Monroe County.
