Ron Cherry, Jr. began working for Monroe County in November, 1996. He started out in an entry-level office position and has since worked his way up to Fleet Management's Senior Coordinator position which he has occupied since May of 2003. Over the years, Ronnie has received extensive job-related training in many areas which allow him to act as the Fleet Department's computer system administrator, office manager and occasionally as the Director in his supervisor's absence. Ronnie is mostly known for his dependability, professionalism and helpful nature, and he has been highly complimented by just about every County department and agency that utilizes Fleet's services. On his off hours, Ronnie has earned and received an Associate in Science Degree in Business Administration. He spends much of his time with his daughter, Carly. He is a regular participant in the local co-ed softball league, and he occasionally volunteers his time raising charities for the non-profit group Relay for Life. When meeting and coming to know Ronnie, his good nature and concern for everything is immediately evident; he continuously receives compliments and endorsements from his peers, fellow workers, supervisor and Fleet's customers and contractors. Because of his consistent performance and dedication, we are very pleased to recognize him today as Monroe County Employee of the Year for 2005.
