As shown in the attached aerial photo, all of the platted lots on the east side of the road are currently in public ownership (either Monroe County or the State of Florida). The platted lots on the west side of Barataria are submerged lands that are privately owned. Therefore, it appears that this road is no longer needed for access. Currently, the road is accessible by vehicles, which enables dumping and other illegal activities. In order to avoid further dumping and damage to the conservation lands, I am requesting that a barricade of some kind be placed at the beginning of Barataria Rd, near the intersection with Pieces of Eight Rd. The barricade should allow for pedestrian access. I would be happy to meet with you on site to discuss the situation. if approved, the source of funding to pay for a barricade at this site will be the Mornm County Environmental Land Management and Restoration Fund. Please forward any invoices to me for payment. Thank you for your help.
