YEARS OF SERVICE AWARD
to
JOHN KING
John King, Sr. Director of Lower Keys Operations for the Public Works Division, has
been employed by Monroe County since May of 1992.
Throughout his past fifteen years with the County, John has held many titles and worn
many hats! While he has always played an integral role in directing and managing the
Facilities Maintenance Department, he is the main Public Works representative at the EOC
during hurricanes and events, he works closely with various Board and Committees, such as
the Parks & Recreation Board, the TDC, the DAC Board, etc., and in 2003 he became a
Certified Public Manager. John is also our resident ADA compliance expert and he works
closely with and regularly attends meetings of the Florida Keys Council for People with
Disabilities, who recently presented him with an award for his seven plus years of
outstanding service to them.
John is a very reliable, hard working employee who handles a myriad of
responsibilities. He is a very dependable and valuable employee, and his knowledge, skills
and abilities play an integral part in the successful outcome of the duties and projects he
handles and coordinates. This is further evidenced by the fact that his personnel file is
overflowing with training certificates, awards, commendations and thank you letters.
During his off duty hours, John is lead singer, guitar player and songwriter with “The
Bubba System” band. He has been involved with various local bands since he was a
teenager. “The Bubba System” plays regularly at many Key West establishments, as well as
charity events and other local functions.
Mr. King is an asset to Public Works and Monroe County, and we are extremely proud
to recognize him for his 15+ years of reliable and devoted service to the County.
