AGENDA ITEM #
Revised 2/05
The City of Key West Storm Water Utility's mission is to improve storm
water drainage and treatment while at the same time assisting other
departments
.
In
meeting paving,
landscaping,
cleaning, ADA
improvements and sidewalk repairs. The Utility has agreed to further
improve each of these elements in every intersection where work is
done. When the Utility observes a non-compliant sidewalk and
driveway, non-complaint ramp and crosswalk, cracked sidewalk unsafe
curb, small puddles, tree hazard, old stop sign, line of sight hazard,
bumpy asphalt or a cleaning problem the Utility has agreed to
immediately coordinate a solution to allow the intersection to be
completely repaired when construction is complete.
It takes an extraordinary amount of time to install the sidewalks
correctly. When providing for ADA compliant accessible routes the
asphalt pavement often needs to be re-graded to provide the acceptable
cross and running slope. Sidewalks often have to be cut back much
further than the basic ramp the utility would normally fund. In
recognition of the additional time and effort provided by the Key West
Storm Water Utility, the Florida Keys Council for People with
Disabilities presents this award.
