Re:
Our File #03072500-KK
Approval is being requested for the settlement of a workers' compensation claim on a former MCSO
employee with a date of accident of 11/08/2000. The claimant suffered injuries to his left knee, left foot, left
shoulder, back when he slipped and fell. The accident was accepted as compensable.
In our settlement analysis we estimated the full value ofthis claim inclusive ofPTD (permanent total
disability) benefits to be approximately $325,000.00.
The claimant initially demanded $250,000. The claimant has accepted our proposed settlement of$125,000
inclusive of all fees, costs and mandatory MSA (Medicare Set Aside) contingent upon the Monroe County
Board of County Commissioners' approval. Our workers' compensation attorney, county attorney's office
and I feel this settlement is in the best interest of Monroe County and we look forward to receiving the
Board's approval on our proposed settlement.
