Marine Resources Development Foundation runs a marine science education
program, known as MarineLab, for students from 4`h grade through college. School
groups, led by teachers, are hosted at the facility in Key Largo year round.
Snorkeling skills are taught, and then the students are introduced to the ecology of
the Upper Keys seagrass, mangrove, and coral reef communities through discussions
before going out on boat trips to snorkel in these environments. MarineLab has been
educating students since 1985.
During my twenty years of employment, I have been involved directly in the
implementation of the MarineLab program. As Coordinator, I handled reservations,
billing, housing, and meal service coordination for all groups, and also designed and
computerized the system.
As Vice President for Information Services, I produced marketing pieces such
as brochures, a promotional video, and newsletters; created and still maintain the
website; and continued to supervise the coordination aspects of the MarineLab
program,
As Senior Vice President, Program Services, I am directly responsible to the
President for all operations at the facility in Key Largo. I supervise all departments,
engage in long range financial and strategic planning, and monitor revenues and
marketing efforts.
