ITEM BACKGROUND:
Habitat for Humanity of Key West & Lower Keys has indicated their desire to deed the property to
MOilloe County for use as a County Park and a staging ground, in aftermath of a disaster, for temporary
RV parking by out-of-county volunteers to help rebuild devastated area of the County.

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF CERTAIN
PROPERTY LOCATED IN TROPICAL BAY, BIG PINE
KEY, MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA FROM HAB/TAT
FOR HUMANITY OF KEY WEST & THE LOWER KEYS, INC
FOR PUBLIC USE.
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of Key West & Lower Florida Keys, Inc. has
indicated their desire to deed certain property located in Tropical Bay, Big Pine Key, Monroe
County, Florida to Monroe County tor use as a County Park and a staging ground, in the
aftermath of a disaster, for temporary RV parking by out-of-County volunteers to help rebuild
devastated areas of the County; and
WHEREAS, it is the expressed desire of the Board of County Commissioners to
officially accept the property to be used for these specific public purposes; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to process the paperwork required for recordation in the
official records of Monroe County to document the transfer of the title to this property to Monroe
County; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has approved the Quit Claim Deed
attached hereto and marked Exhibit A for execution and recordation; and
WHEREAS, during the past hurricane season certain improvements were made to the
property to facilitate the uses for which the County wishes to acquire the property at a cost to
Habitat for Humanity of Key West & Lower Florida Keys, Inc. of nine thousand, seven hundred
and ten dollars and forty-seven cents ($9,710.47); now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida,
that:
1. The Board of County Commissioners hereby agrees to accept title from
Habitat for Humanity of Key West & Lower Florida Keys, Inc, for the
following property as cited in the Quit Claim Deed attached hereto and
marked Exhibit A:
"TRACT A, TROPICAL BAY. fIRST ADDITION, BIG PINE KEY.
FLORIDA, PLAT BOOK 4, PAGE 122. OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA. II
2. The County Attorney's office is authorized to process the documents
necessary for recordation in the official records of Monroe County,
Florida and to pay any and all recording fees and documentary stamps
associated with its recordation.

3, The Board of County Commissioners hereby authorizes the payment of

4, The Board of County Commissioners hereby acknowledges that use of the
above property will be restricted for use as a County park and a post-
disaster RV parking site for out-of-County volunteers providing repair and
rebuilding services to the community,

and MONROE COUNTY, a political subdivision of the state of Florida, second party, whose
address is 1100 Simonton Street, Key West, Florida:

As requested, Habitat for Humanity will deed the Tropical Bay Property intended in prior
arrangements with the County for a park. via a quit claim deed to Monroe County upon approval
by the County. Recent site improvements by Habitat have had a materials cost of $9,710.47 and
as we discussed on Tuesday of this week you have indlcated a willingness for the county to
reimburse Habitat for those expenses.
