AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Receipt of monthly report on change orders reviewed by the County
Administrator's Office.
ITEM BACKGROUND: There was one change order considered and approved by the County
Administrator for the period beginning June 1,2009 and ending June 30,2009 for a total of $8,268.75,
and no change order requests were denied by Project Management or Engineering Services.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On September 9, 1998, Ordinance No. 026-1998 was
adopted in order to provide that the County Administrator may approve separate, non-cumulative
change orders for construction projects and professional service contracts in amounts not to exceed
$25,000.00 or 5% of the original contract price, whichever is greater. The BOCC requested a monthly
report of all change orders considered by the County Administrator.

Change Order Request for deck replacement on Senior Citizen building.
Pedro Falcon's Contract for the BPK Fire Station requires that they replace the existing
stairs to the Senior Citizen Center. The deck that the stairs tie into is in a deteriorated
condition and for safety reasons must be replaced. This CO is for the replacement of the
deck only. This work will require additional time to complete the project.

RE: Change Orders
Attached is a proposed change order for Pedro Falcon Electrical Contractors, Inc.
for the Big Pine Key Fire Station (Change Order #2 is for an increase of
$8,268.75 due to a concrete deck repair at the Senior Citizen Center next to the
Big Pine Key Fire Station. This will add an additional 20 days to the completion date
changing it from 7/11/09 to 71~')
According to the ordinance adopted by the Board of County Commissioners,
propo~ change orders are to be presented to members of the Board of County
Commissioners prior to approval, assuming they are within the Administrator's
prescribed limits. Change orders not within the Administrator's authority are
placed on the BOCC agenda.
The Administrator/Deputy Administrator intends to approve this change order on
