Memorandum
June 17, 2009
To: Dent Pierce, Director, Momoe County Public Works
From: Beth Bergh, Momoe County Land Steward tShl
cc: Mark Rosch, Director, Momoe County Land Authority
Ronda Norman, Director, Momoe County Code Enforcement
Subject: Request to close Center Rd, Summerland Key
The purpose of this memo is to request the closure of the northern portion of Center Rd,
Summerland Key. As shown in the attached map, all of the parcels on the west side of
the road are currently in public ownership (either Momoe County or the State of Florida).
The parcels on the east side of Center Rd are privately owned lands that are accessible
from Niles Rd. Therefore, it appears that this road is no longer needed for access.
Currently, the road is accessible by vehicles, which enables dumping and other illegal
activities. In order to avoid further dumping and damage to the conservation lands, I am
requesting that a barricade of some kind be placed just north of the Florida Keys
Aqueduct Facility. The barricade should allow for pedestrian access. I would be happy
to meet with you on site to discuss the situation.
Thank you for your help. If you have any questions or if you need additional
information, please feel free to contact me at x 2511.
