AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Discussion and direction of proposal to share the purchase of the
South Cliff Estates development with the Monroe County School Board.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
South Cliff Estates is a 28 unit housing development located at approximately MM 95 on the oceanside
of U S-I in Key Largo. The developer has offered the proj ect for sale for $11.5 million. The developer
is willing to consider a payment plan over a period of 5 years. In initial discussions with the MC
School District staff there was at least interest in pursuing a joint offer in which the County and School
District would each contribute $1.15 million per year for five years and split the housing units as
employee housing for County and District staff. There are many details to be worked out. This
discussion is to determine BOCC interest and provide any guidance to staff for pursuing the joint
project.
