Marathon Airport for approximately one year. Previously, he was employed with the Monroe County
Public Works Division and assigned to the Marathon Government Center where he became known and
was easily recognized by his distinguishable characteristic of wearing a bow tie.
Monroe County and especially us here at the Florida Keys Marathon Airport are fortunate to have Mr.
Griffin as a member of our team, as he is hardworking, courteous, and continuously displays a positive
attitude. He has had a positive impact on the organization and its customers through his noteworthy
performance above and beyond job expectations. His work ethic and practices have produced a program
of enhanced upkeep of buildings and grounds resulting in improved appearance and functioning of the
facility overall. Tenants and members of the general aviation community alike have been heard to remark
that the airport has never looked better.
Petey assists his supervisor in the daily inspection of the airport's apron, ramps, runways and taxiways,
their markings lighting and signage ensuring the safety of the flying public. He has a positive impact on
co-workers by encouraging them to constantly strive to raise the bar on production levels. He exemplifies
the attitude of don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
Additionally, he has improved efficiency of operations by using Monroe County Detention Facility trusties
that are assigned to the airport to their fullest potential.

therefore is deserving of the recognition of the Monroe County Employee Service Award.
