AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Discussion and approval of a Board of County Commission
appointment to the Tourist Development Council for a 4 year term replacing Morgan McPherson
former mayor of the City of Key West.
ITEM BACKGROUND: This appointment shall be of an elected municipal official from the most
populous municipality in Monroe County (see Resolution No. 300-2007). Nominations are made by
the Board of County Commissioners.

Teri Johnston:
Teri was born on July 2, 1951 and raised in Conrad, Iowa. Due to career
relocations, Teri has since resided in Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and
England. Spending winters in Key West since 1999 she permanently relocated
in 2001.
Career:
Current-1995: Co-owner of Affiliated Desiqn and Construction Manaqers.L.L.C.,
specializing in the design and construction of quality custom homes, renovations
and historical restorations.
1995-1974: Hollister Incorporated: A privately owned corporation located in
Libertyville, Illinois specializing in the manufacture and marketing of disposable
healthcare equipment. Teri spent 21 years in the domestic division in Human
Resources, Sales and Sales Management and in the International Marketing and
Sales division. During her career in the International division at Hollister
Incorporated, she was responsible for the development and staff education of
branches and distributors throughout Asia, Middle East, Australia/New Zealand
and Europe. Teri retired from Hollister Incorporated in 1995 as the Director of
Marketing -European Division based in Wokingham, England.
1973-1974- Student recruiter for John F. Kennedy College covering 5 states.
Education:
1973-B.A degree from John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo, Nebraska.
1974-1984 16 hours of continuing education in management.
Affiliations/Accomplishments:
. President of F.I.R.M.- Fair Insurance Rate in Monroe, a grassroots
organization focused on bringing affordable property insurance rates to
the citizens of Monroe County. 2006-2007
. Co-Chaired Woman Fest Committee 2006
. Member of Woman Fest Committee 2007.
. Campaign Manager for the 2005 Fantasy Fest King.
. Co-Sponsored the "Ginny Haller Breast Cancer Benefit" in 2003.

Craig Cates is a third generation conch, raised in Key West. He has been married
to wife Cheryl for 38 years and has 3 daughters and 3 grandkids.
He has been in business in Key West for 22 years, with an auto repair shop, car
dealership and now the Napa auto parts store.
Affiliations include: Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years, Economic
Development Committee, Military Affairs Committee for over 9 years, Sunrise
Rotary Club, Elks Club and the Moose Lodge
