AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to rescind the Contract with Pavers & Stone, Inc. approved
on August 16, 2006 for the installation of exterior cast stone and brick veneer to the Freeman Justice
Center, and approval of a revised contract, and Addendum # 1, a j oint check agreement between Rinker
Materials, Pavers and Stones, Inc., and Monroe County.
ITEM BACKGROUND: The Architect/Engineer recommends upgrading from standard masonry ties
to stainless steel attachments for the brick veneer on the exterior of the Freeman Justice Center, cost
and description attached as Exhibit "A". The stainless steel attachments and brick supplier, Rinker
Materials Corporation, requesting a Joint Check Agreement, attached as Addendum #1.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On May 16, 2006, the BOCC authorized brick and
stone veneer on the entire exterior of the Freeman Justice Center, and on August 16, 2006, the BOCC
approved to award a contract to Pavers & Stone, Inc. for the installation of cast stone and brick veneer,
and to modifY the purchasing policies and procedures.
CONTRACT/AGREEMENT CHANGES: To add Exhibit "A" to the contract for the furnishing and
installation of stainless steel attachments. The contract price increases from $977,590.64 to
$1,267,485.02. The Agreement also changes to include a Joint Check Agreement, Addendum #1, to
include the supplier for stainless steel attachments and brick as a payee on the payments that include
these materials.
