AGENDA ITEM WORDING: SUSTAINABILITY: Resolution approving the list of Monroe
County's capital grant applications for the "Resilient Florida" grant program in 2023.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
This resolution provides support for the capital grant applications that County staff will submit under
the state Resilient Florida grant program for 2023. A signed copy of the resolution will be submitted as
part of the applications.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
07/21/21: Discussion and direction in the formulation of a grant application strategy for the "Resilient
Florida" grant funds this year.
08/18/2021: Approval of the proposed grant applications for the "Resilient Florida" grant program.
06/15/22: Approval to enter into Amendment No. 4 for $81,258.91 under the contract with HDR, Inc.
for the Roads Vulnerability Analysis and Capital Plan for County-maintained roads and related services,
for additional services for grant preparation and outreach and to extend the time to June 24, 2023.
06/15/22: Approval of Amendment No. 4 in the amount of$30,125.00 to a contract with Erin L. Deady
P.A. to provide an updated vulnerability assessment to support the County's Resilient Florida grant
applications for 2022; and an extension of time retroactive from May 30, 2022 to December 31, 2022.
06/15/22: Discussion and direction of the potential capital projects applications to be submitted under
the "Resilient Florida" program for 2022.
08/17/22: Resolution approving the list of Monroe County's capital and planning grant applications for

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY TO APPROVE THE GRANT APPLICATIONS AND
AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO SUBMIT SUCH

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION FOR THE RESILIENT FLORIDA

WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection has a grant program pursuant to Section
380.093, Florida Statutes known as the "Resilient Florida" program; and
WHEREAS, the Resilient Florida grant program provides funds to local governments to undertake capital
resilience projects addressing flood risk with and without match requirements; and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioner seeks to apply for two road
adaptation capital grant applications, two shoreline adaptation capital projects and two supplemental
funding applications; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners for Monroe County approves the applications and
authorizes the County Administrator to submit the applications under the 2023 Resilient Florida program.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
