Resolution 254-2023 RESOLUTION NO. 254 -2023 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY TO APPROVE THE GRANT APPLICATIONS AND AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO SUBMIT SUCH APPLICATIONS WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION FOR THE RESILIENT FLORIDA CAPITAL GRANTS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection has a grant program pursuant to Section 380.093, Florida Statutes known as the "Resilient Florida" program; and WHEREAS, the Resilient Florida grant program provides funds to local governments to undertake capital resilience projects addressing flood risk with and without match requirements; and WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioner seeks to apply for two road adaptation capital grant applications, two shoreline adaptation capital projects and two supplemental funding applications; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners for Monroe County approves the applications and authorizes the County Administrator to submit the applications under the 2023 Resilient Florida program. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners hereby authorizes the County Administrator to submit the following applications with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection under the Resilient Florida program: No. Project Title Project Description Total Project Amount Cost and Requested under Match Funds Resilient Florida Provided 1 Sands Subdivision Construction of a road Sea Level Rise adaptation project for the $23.5 Million $11.75 Million Roadway And Sands neighborhood in Big cost Drainage Pilot Project, Pine Key. Big Pine Key Design complete, shovel ------- ready. $11.75 match NOTE: $8.1 M Funding provided received under CDBG-MIT grant IR026 and federal allotment. 1 2 Stillwright Point Construction of a road subdivision adaptation project for the $41 Million $20.5 Million Sea Level Rise Road Stillwright Point cost Adaptation Project, neighborhood in Key Largo. Key Largo ------- NOTE: Design underway $20.5 Million and funded by 2022 Resilient Match Florida grant. provided 3 Monroe County Design,permitting and $1,000,000 Murray Nelson construction of a shoreline cost $500,000 Government Center adaptation project to protect Shoreline Adaptation, the Monroe County $500,000 Key Largo government center.
