AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY
Meeting Date: December 16, 2009
Division:
Emergency Services
Bulk Item: Yes
No -2L
Department: Fire Rescue
Staff Contact Person/Phone # James Callahan/x6088
AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Request approval to enter into a Lease Agreement with Zane Grey
Development Co. for Unit #10 at 68250 Overseas Highway, Layton, Florida for housing firefighters
assigned to Layton Fire Station #18 for $2,200.00 per month including utilities.
ITEM BACKGROUND: During the budget process for Fiscal Year 2010, the Board approved
implementing career staffing the Layton Fire Station #18 with two firefighters daily commencing on
December 31, 2009. The existing station in the City of Layton was supported by Momoe County in
the annual amount of $5,405. The Layton facility has no living quarters, therefore it is necessary to lease
housing for the firefighters. Zane Grey Development Company has housing units available, located in
close proximity to the station, which would allow for immediate response to fire and rescue calls. They
have offered a suitable unit to the county for lease at $2,200 per month including utilities for one year.
Other rental companies in Layton have indicated they could not accommodate the county and declined
to submit a lease proposal. The City of Layton has committed to waive the county's funding support of
the use of the Layton facility upon the implementation of career staffing of the Layton/long key fire
station. The total annual lease is $26,400. The budget for the housing totals $24,000, in conjunction
with the waived Layton support of$5,405 is in excess'ofthe funds necessary to fund the annual housing
lease agreement by $3,005. The net monthly cost including utilities is $1,750.
-
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOARD ACTION: During the budget process for Fiscal Year 2010, the
Board approved implementing staffing the Layton Fire Station #18 with two firefighters daily
commencing on January 1,2010, and funds were appropriated for leasing housing for these firefighters.

Susan,
Thank you for your interest in our resort.
Unfortunately we only do transit rentals.
For instance I have a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment which the rate is 225.00 per night plus 12.5% tax per
day. If you were to stay for a month the cost would be 6750.00 plus 12.5% tax 843,75 with the total stay
being 7593.75, If tax exempt then the total for the month would be 6750.00.

If I can assist further please let me know,
