Re: SOCC Agenda Item-Approval of Use of Library Impact Fees
The Library's current automation system, or ILS (Integrated Library System), is now ten years
old and no longer sufficient to meet our needs or the usage needs of our patrons. Staff have
participated in demonstrations by several vendors of these systems, and we are close to
making a decision on the purchase. We anticipate piggybacking on the contract already in
or Lee County, which will eliminate the need for the RFP process, saving time and
have been working with the County Purchasing Office to this end. The original
our automation system was made possible by the use of impact fees, and we are
ission to use those funds again for the purchase of an updated system, with the
uipment, which will be more efficient for staff and offer enhanced catalog
ur patrons.
