Geotis Ports Manager of the City Of Marathon, Florida Beginning in August 2007, the City of Marathon, Florida embarked on a mission to remove barriers and improve accessibility for citizens with disabilities to the facilities at the City Marina located on Boot Key Harbor. To this end, Ports Manager C.J. Geotis and his staff developed and began implementation of a comprehensive transition plan to accomplish the goal of —� i es for parking areas, _ ramps, -docks, and a new at Quse-_ The City of Marathon Marina Transition Plan was completed and approved by the City Council on February 12, 2008 by Resolution 2008-23. Since that time, identified physical barriers have been removed, an ADA Compliance Coordinator has been identified, and a designated ADA dinghy dockage area with signage has been established. Work has also begun to create an ADA accessible boardwalk to the Marina's thatched roof pavilion and automobile parking spaces are being redone to meet ADA compliance. The new City Marina Bath House and Shower Facility has been reengineered to meet ADA compliance and construction on that building is scheduled to begin in June of 2008. We are deeply grateful to Mr. Geotis, his staff, and the City of Marathon for their efforts to improve access for people with disabilities to one of the premiere jewels of our beautiful Florida Keys.
