AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Receipt of monthly report on change orders reviewed by the County
Administrator's Office.
ITEM BACKGROUND: There was one change order considered and approved by the County
Administrator for the period beginning May 1, 2008 and ending May 31, 2008, at no cost to the
County. There were not any change order requests denied to the Contractor by Engineering or
Facilities Development.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On September 9, 1998, Ordinance No. 026-1998 was
adopted in order to provide that the County Administrator may approve separate, non-cumulative
change orders for construction projects and professional service contracts in amounts not to exceed
$25,000.00 or 5% of the original contract price, whichever is greater. The BOCC requested a monthly
report of all change orders considered by the County Administrator.

Subject: Card Sound Rehabilitation Project; Change Order No.4
Dear Ms. Clarke,
This letter is written to recommend that a Contract Change Order be processed by the county to modify the existing
contract with Coastal Marine Construction as follows and to allow payment of the final estimate for the project:
· Increase the quantity of Latex Modified Portland Cement Concrete PI 450-70-2 by 55.684 CF
· Decrease the quantity of Floating Turbidity Barrier, F&I by 841 LF
· Decrease the quantity of Floating Turbidity Barrier, Relocate PI 104-75 by 1317.48 LF
· This change will not change the duration of the contract. Substantial Completion was as stated on Change
Order 2,5 May 2008.
In accordance with General Provisions 7.2, PB recommends to the County that this change order be approved and
processed.

RE: Change Orders
Attached is a proposed change order for the Card Sound Road Rehabilitation
Project (Otange Order #4 for Coastal Marine Construction is a no cost change
order with no time extension required. Please see attached explanation.)
According to the ordinance adopted by the Board of County Commissioners,
proposed change orders are to be presented to members of the Board of County
Commissioners prior to approval, assuming they are within the Administrator's
prescribed limits. Change orders not within the Administrator's authority are
placed on the BOCC agenda.
The Deputy Administrator intends to approve this change order on Friday, May 23,
2008.
