The Board must approve the proposed Road Abandonment by Resolution at a location specific, noticed public hearing. Now that the Road Abandonment Petition is complete, this office will be ask for approval from the Board at the next meeting, 3/19/08, to advertise a Public Hearing to consider the proposed Road Abandonment. if the Public Hearing is approved, this office will publicly notice a Public Hearing for the 4116/08 BOCC meeting in Key West at 3:00 P.M. If the Road Abandonment is approved by the Board following the Public Hearing, a Notice of Adoption citing the Resolution No. assigned by the Clerk, must be published. When the Proof of Publication for the Notice of Adoption is received, the Petitioner is notified to reimburse the County for all advertising costs incurred relative to the Road Abandonment. When the reimbursement is received by this office, the originals/certified copies of the documents required to record the Road Abandonment are forwarded to the Petitioner, via Certified/Return Receipt Mail. It is the Petitioner's responsibility to record the documents. Based on these time frames, if the Public Hearing is approved and the Road Abandonment is approved by Board at the 4/16/08 public hearing, it will be at least the end of April/early May depending on publication/receipt of reimbursement from the Petitioner.
