Item Background:
This item is proposed to protect natural resources and property rights pursuant to
BOCC Resolution 39-2004 (the 2004 BOCC/DCA partnership agreement), which calls for the Land
Authority to purchase natural areas consisting of at least two acres of upland native habitat located
outside the Conservation and Natural Area (CNA). The CNA was the precursor to today’s Tier 1
Conservation designation.
The subject property is a 0.38 acre parcel located within a natural area on George Street near MM 103
on the bayside of Key Largo. The property is designated Tier 3-A Special Protection Area, zoned
Improved Subdivision, and consists of tropical hardwood hammock vegetation.
The Land Authority's standard purchase contract will be used for this transaction. The agenda packet
spreadsheet lists the legal description, purchase price, and estimated closing costs.
