RE: Barbara Bauman Presentation of Employee Service Award for the
Month of June 2008
Barbara Bauman has been with Monroe County for three (3) years. She began her public
service in Monroe County at the front counter of our Plantation Key Government Center.
During her time in this position she was able to utilize her daily interaction with
applicants to expand her knowledge of not only our Building Department processes and
regulation but also those of the Planning Department.
With only one (1) year under her belt as a customer service representative for the
Building Department she made a seamless transition to the position of Planning
Technician in our Plantation Key office. She has not wasted a moment in establishing
herself as a knowledgeable and helpful resource to the communities of Key Largo and
Tavernier. Her accomplishment has not been easy given the staff shortage in this office.
Plantation Key normally operates with three planners and two planning technician. The
last three months this office has had only Barbara. When faced with this opportunity, she
has not only taken the wheel but has plotted a new course on which to sail, exceeding the
expectations of everyone she assists.
Barbara has proven to be an invaluable asset to the Planning Department, The Growth
Management Division and to Monroe County. Establishing trust in government through
honest service she has proven her value to the communities she serves and we thank her
for helping make our service and our community better.
