ITEM BACKGROUND: Morse Communications installed the Mitel phone system in 2017 and has been providing us with support and maintenance since then. In accordance with Monroe County Code Sec. 2-347(e)(5)(c.) and Monroe County Purchasing Policy this is a sole source purchase for on-going maintenance and support for existing Mitel phone system software technology. Their intimate knowledge of our system and its configuration make them a valuable partner as we continue to upgrade the software and hardware supporting our 1,500 telephone users spread across the BOCC and all the Constitutional Officers. The County will use Morse Communications as the provider to perform the required upgrade to our phone system—using their standard rate of$1,500 per day (including travel expenses) for 5 days of activity over a weekend. As set forth above and in the attached memo, this item request the Board to approve this using the sole source provision of our purchasing policy.
