Roosevelt Boulevard Key West, FL 33040 Dear Mr. Horton: As you are aware, the number of controlled parking spaces available to the public as a result of the terminal construction project is limited to approximately 90 spaces. Patrons of the Airport frequently encounter a parking facility that has reached capacity. Customers parking for 30 minutes or less, under the "30 minutes free" policy, fill the available parking spaces within the lot, generating no revenue, and prevent bona fide travelers from parking in the lot. The current rate also offers the customer a "weekly" discount. Customers pay only $24.00 for four to seven days of parking. I recommend that the weekly rate be discontinued entirely during the construction period. If it is determined that a weekly discount must be offered, I recommend that the rate be for 5 days of the daily rate, giving two days free. This is a more common practice at other airports that offer a weekly discounted rate. I recommend that we adjust parking rates to address the limited capacity of the parking lots as follows: 0 - %Z hour $1.00 %- 1 hours 2.00 Ea. Additional '/z Hour 1.00 Max. each 24 hours 8.00 Weekly Max (if deemed necessary) $40.00 This rate structure encourages rapid turnover within the controlled parking area, increasing the availability of parking spaces for the outbound air traveler. Upon completion of the terminal project, the parking rates should be reviewed an adjusted as necessary. If you would like to discuss this rate adjustment recommendation or if you have any questions or comments, please contact me.
