Approval of Workers' Compensation settlement

This item requests approval for settlement of a worker's compensation lien pursuant to Chapter 440.39 FS
(Compensation for Injuries when Third Persons are Liable) for an active BOCC employee with a date of
accident, January 18, 2003. The claimant suffered injuries to his left foot and ankle when he fell off of a
ladder. The accident was accepted as compensable.
The claimant has accepted our proposed settlement of $32,000.00 inclusive of all fees contingent upon your
approval. This settlement will discharge the County from any further liability for past or future
compensation benefits, past and future medical benefits, rehabilitation benefits, temporary total disability
benefits for training and education, death benefits, attorney's fees and costs, and any other benefits provided
under the Florida Workers' Compensation Law.
It is the County's workers' compensation attorney, county attorney's office and staffs recommendation to
approve the proposed settlement in the amount of $32,000.00.
