02/21/2024 Agreement Spferrial Oftrnpirs. r Florida 2024 Proposal to Key West International Airport for Support of Special Olympics Florida in Monroe County The mission of Special Olympics Florida is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. The ultimate objective of Special Olympics Florida is to help people with intellectual disabilities participate as productive and respected members of society at large, by offering them a fair opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and talents through sports training and competition, and by increasing the public's awareness of their capabilities and needs. Special Olympics Florida offers activities for all ability levels and serves both children and adults. Special Olympics Florida also provides critical health screenings as well as life-changing leadership opportunities for the athletes. All Special Olympics Florida programs and services are at no cost to the athletes or their families. Special Olympics Florida, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Spec az 04YMP�y Florida-r w M0*W'M_ In Monroe County, as of January 2024, Special Olympics Florida serves 650+ youth ages eight and above with and without intellectual disabilities in 12 sports, in schools, and in the community. We also offer a variety of developmental programs for ages two and above, as well as athlete leadership training. Our county participation has grown tremendously over the past years. In 2013, we served 80 athletes in the Key West area only, and zero served in other areas of the Keys. In January of 2023, we served 528 athletes in all areas, lower, middle, and upper keys, giving us a growth of 122 participants in one calendar year. Each event has 100-500 people in attendance. Each event has an Opening Ceremony where our supporters and community VIP members are invited to attend and are honored. Locally we can offer an exposure of at least 1,000 people throughout the calendar year with the currently planned events. Our most recent event, the 2023 Cornhole Culmination at Key West High School in December, hosted 100 athletes, 25 coaches, and multiple volunteers and fans from the Key West area. We will be holding the Cornhole event again in December 2024. r 1 y'Iti�� 'sill y r P V�Yr i�pl� d�/llll yb( (64a fi „ Upcoming events, the 2024 Unified Championship Schools Soccer Competition at Big Pine Park and the 2024 Bocce Culmination at Big Pine Park, will include all athletes from Lower, Middle and Upper Keys. / The 2024 Soccer Competition will host five soccer teams, including 55 athletes, 10 coaches, and 25 volunteers, along with multiple community members and fans. The 2024 Bocce Culmination will host over 100 athletes, 25 coaches, 50 volunteers, and multiple community members and fans. We have plans to expand our local events to include a Swim Competition at Founders Park Pool, along with a Stand-Up Paddle Event to include the general public in the future. f IV It 9 �f�tlli �kllliflil��(I I(I�(IU�,11f1IP �PII@I�i�I�lllllll��� ull%( � ;'I I qq 4, I i N f } i i l t yy A Spry-/3eN We will announce our supporters on local radio (104.1 US1 Radio, 97.7 The Zone, 100.1 Thunder Country), in press (Key West Citizen, Keys Weekly), and on social media for each event, along with displaying a co-branded banner at each event. Our athletes also travel to Area and Regional Competitions for each sport season (5 seasons) as part of the West Coast Region of Special Olympics Florida. At each event an Opening Ceremony is held where supporters are recognized and also invited to attend. Upcoming Summer Season Games Competitions: • Area Games, March 2, are hosted at Lehigh High School in Lehigh, Florida and will include up to 1,000 people for exposure. • Regional Games, April 13, are hosted at IMG Academy in Sarasota, Florida and will include up to 3,500-4,000 people for exposure. We would also be able to provide recognition of the Key West International Airport with photos of our teams displaying the co-branded banner at local events, positioned at awards and opening ceremonies, and in press photos. We will travel with the banner to Area/Regional and State events, using it in photos with our teams. These photos may be used for promotion, recognition and display by the Key West International Airport.
