"Reggie" Paras, Director Housing and Community Development Florida Keys Marathon Airport Manager SUBJECT: Agenda Item re: Welcome Center at Florida Keys Marathon Airport Terminal DATE: January 24, 2007 In anticipation of commercial air service at Florida Keys Marathon Airport, which is scheduled to begin on February 15,2007, the Greater Marathon Chamber of Commerce has requested to occupy a space of 16' x 16' to erect a kiosk to serve as a Welcome Center for the arriving passengers. They will have staff from the Chamber manning the kiosk; they intend to meet each arriving flight and will have a computer on site to assist visitors with hotel and attraction reservations, and answer any questions about the area. The Greater Marathon Chamber of Commerce assisted with fundraising efforts for local contributions totaling $305,000.00, which will be the County's match for the Small Community Air Service Development Grant funds. They have requested to occupy the space at no cost for one year, on a month-to-month basis, effective February 1,2007. JRP/sd
