Dear Mr. Willi
Request that Monroe County commemorate the spirit. action and services of Mrs. Rosemary
Lipps Olds for decades ofste«ardship of a small isolated trianular right -of -pia, area created by
a half century of county road remodeling as development of the Harr• Harris Park area took
place.
0ri;,,inail}- the road to Planter's Point passed almost directly from l_J.S. 1 (MM 917) to the
Ocean. As subdivisions were approved, developed and their roads changed to provide heavier
traffic service. a small triangle of count,• road right-of-vva, property of about -7 feet by 45 feet
bv 38 feet Was left unpaved as an island at a three street intersection. Mrs. Rosemanr Lipps. later
Olds, lived at the intersection and maintained it as a tint' "park." She continues to do so today
and small trianoular island of land is known to the local community as Rosernarv's Park -
To eliminate possible problems that the official title "park" may cause. the 1 CA in conjunction
with the Harry Harris Park community group conclude: that narning it "Rosernary's Corner" will
prevent bud -et, manpower. etc. conhrsion as there is no chanoe in any! thing other than the
addition of a commemorative name.

At our Harry Harris Park community montWy meeting today, we voted to process a
TRUSTEES
request to name the triangi lar area at the intersection of Burton Drive, Second Street and
Planter Drive as "Rosemary's Corner." Rosemary Lipps Olds, 233 Planter Drive,Chris
Gardner
Tavernier, FL 33070 has maintained the small area in front of her house since the late

The intent is to provide a name earned and deserved by Mrs. Olds. No expenditures,

change in zoning. use or Qunership is intended or desired by our community.

The "Corner" is too dense for the normal Monroe County road -cutting crew to maintain
with its large equipment since this small area includes a gumbo limbo tree, bougainvillea,
Bell South telephone cabinet, sitting bench, built by her late husband, Charles Olds, and an
FKAA pipeline valve.
For many years Mrs. Olds maintained this comer, and with the exception of lawn
cutting paid for by her, does so to this day. Also, she keeps the area and the surrounding
clean of refuge.
For her many years of community spirit and service, our local community has referred
to it as "Rosemary Parks" and we recommend that •he small area be named "Rosemary
Corner" by the Monroe County. Other descriptions are all right, as long as it
commemorates her decades of personal dedication.
A crude map is attached.
Sincerely yours,
M "ilki Mary Lonso n
