A RESOLUTION BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS GRANTING THE DESIGNATION OF
"HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL LANDMARK" TO THE
WOODS HOME LOCATED AT 140 TAVERN DR. ,
TAVERNIER. THE PROPERTY IS DESCRIBED AS
FOLLOWS: LOT 28, BLOCK A AND PART OF

WHEREAS, The Woods Home, meets the criteria for designation
of a "Historical and Cultural Landmark" as speci~ied i~ se~ion

WHEREAS, the procedures for landmark designation set forth in
Section 9.5 -453 of the Monroe County Code. Amended, have been
followed, in that:
1. The proposed designation was initiated by Nora Williams and
Timothy Wilson, the current owner of the Woods Home, in an
application to the Historic Florida Keys Preservation Board;
and

historic designation under Code Section 9.5-452, and
included other evidence that supports the designation, as set
forth on the application, which documents the historic,
social, and cultural significance of the Woods Home; and
4. The application has been reviewed by the Historic Florida
Keys Preservation Board, which recommends the Woods Home for
local historic designation, as evidenced in a September 18,
1995 letter from the Board's Manager; and
5. The application has been reviewed by the Planning Staff, who
recommends the Woods Home for landmark designation, as stated
in the staff report to the Monroe County Planning Commission
dated January 8, 1996; and
6. The Monroe County Planning Commission, during a regular
session held on February 23, 1996, has conducted a public
hearing on the proposed designation, reviewed the request
from Nora Williams and Timothy Wilson and the recommendations
of the Historic Florida Keys Preservation Board, and heard
testimony from the public; and

7. The Planning Commission has voted at said public hearing to
recommend to the Monroe County Board of Commissioners that
the Board grant the designation of "Historical and Cultural
Landmark" to the Woods Home; and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners has
considered the proposed designation and the recommendations of
the Historic Florida Keys Preservation Board, the Planning
Department, and the Planning Commission; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT:
The Woods Home located at 140 Tavern Dr., Tavernier, Florida
is hereby designated as an historical and cultural Landmark, as
provided by Article VIII of the Monroe Count v Code, Amended.
