A RESOLUTION BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS PROHIBITING THE PARKING, STANDING OR
STOPPING OF VEHICLES ALONG THE WEST SIDE OF THE COUNTY
RIGHT OF WAY OF FRONT STREET BEGINNING APPROXIMATELY 240
FT SOUTH OF THE INTERSECTION OF 4Tx AVENUE AND FRONT
STREET AND CONTINUING APPROXIMATELY 720 FT., MALONEY
SUBDIVISION, STOCK ISLAND, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Monroe County Code Sec. 25-27, the Board of County
Commissioners may restrict or prohibit the parking, standing or stopping of vehicles along
county roads; and
WHEREAS, Front Street is a county road that is located in Stock Island; and
WHEREAS, the road leads to the commercial waterfront and is bordered on the east by
Roy's Trailer Park and on the west by several commercial and industrial properties; and
WHEREAS, the portion of the right of way on the west side of the road is the site of
frequent illegal dumping incidents, abandoned vehicles and at times illegal camping in vehicles,
all of which is causing traffic flow and safety issues; and
WHEREAS, the designated no parking area would be posted with "No Parking" signs as
required by Sec. 25-27, Monroe County Code;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT:
1. The west side of Front Street from approximately 240 ft. south of the intersection of 41h
Avenue and Front Street for approximately 720 ft. Maloney Subdivision, Stock Island,
Florida, shall be designated as a no parking, standing or stopping area.
2. The designated area shall be posted with the appropriate "No Parking" signage as
required by Monroe County Code Sec. 25-27. The signage will also include the
noncriminal civil penalty, which is currently set at$200.00.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida,
at a regular meeting held on the 20th day of March, 2024
