ITEM BACKGROUND: Monroe County Code Section 6-108(e) allows BOCC approval of waivers of building permit fees for affordable housing which has/have a Development Order in effect. The Applicant is requesting building permit fee waivers totaling approximately $90,446 to construct eight(8) low income (80% of median), or below, affordable three bedroom, two bathroom housing units at 31372 Avenue G, 31371 Avenue F, 31142 Avenue F, 31530 Avenue D, 31250 Avenue I, and 30936 Nathalie Street, all on Big Pine Key, and 28269 Julia Avenue and 28249 Julia Avenue on Little Torch Key. Each of the eight (8) units has a construction value of approximately $335,000. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On November 18, 2009,the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners ("Board")passed and adopted Ordinance 036-2009, allowing building permit fee waivers for entities building low-income housing leveraging state or federal funds, or affordable housing as defined by state statutes; and On February 10, 2010, the Board passed and adopted Ordinance 004-2010, allowing waivers for housing for households up to 120% of median income in Monroe County.
