AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Request to expend $6,733.00 from the MCSO Law Enforcement
Trust Fund to support the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches and MCSO's Harmony in the Streets mobile
community youth day camp.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The Florida Sheriff Youth Ranches in cooperation with the Monroe County Sheriffs Office host a
mobile community day camp for under privileged youth. The objective is to reach at-risk youth to
prevent juvenile delinquency. The summer camp will be offered at no cost to 60 youths in Monroe
County. The camp is planned for the week of June 9th at Bernstein Park.

RE: Request for Expenditures from Law Enforcement Trust Fund
Dear Mrs. Hurley:
I would like to request that the Commission authorize the following expenditures from
the Law Enforcement Trust Fund:
$ 6,733.00 Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches: to support the"Harmony in the Streets"
mobile community day camp for underprivileged youth. The objective of the program is to
reach at-risk youth to prevent juvenile delinquency and to help develop law-abiding, productive
citizens. The summer camp will be offered at no cost to 6o youths in Monroe County.

I hereby certify that these expenditures are lawful pursuant to the Florida
Contraband Act. There will be no recurring expenses in the existing budget.

Sheriff Ramsay:
This letter acknowledges an agreement between the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches,Inc.and the
Monroe County Sheriffs Office for one(1)week of the Harmony in the Streets[HITS] Mobile Camp
program to be implemented June 9t'—13a',2025.This letter outlines services provided to the
community by each agency.The fee for one week of program will be$6,733.00.
The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches will provide:
One(1)Site Director&Program Staff(based on the number of youth registered at the site to maintain
the staff to youth ratio of 1:12 including the Site Director, not to exceed 50 youth)
Supplies that are included but are not limited to:
Portable Challenge Course Arts and Crafts Environmental Education
Recreation Equipment Water Activities Morning and afternoon snacks
The Monroe County Sheriffs Office will provide:
One(1)Law Enforcement Officer to serve as the HITS Coordinator(to assist Youth Ranches staff in
coordination of the program including site selection and registration of youth)
Daily Law Enforcement Demonstrations of one hour in duration(if possible)
K-9 unit Mounted Unit * Helicopter Drug Awareness S.R.T. Marine Unit
At least one (1) Law Enforcement Officer to assist in the delivery of the program on a daily basis fulfilling
the role of"Officer Friendly"
Lunch will be provided through catering organized by the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.
In the event of unforeseen difficulties such as weather,site unavailability or staffing shortages either
party may cancel or postpone a week of program delivery no later than seven days prior to the planned
implementation.The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches reserves the right dete min re-scheduled
weeks.
