Nelson Cabrera 10 years of service.docx FINANCIAL IMPACT: N/A 21 Nelson Cabrera is being recognized for 10 years of service with Monroe County Fire Rescue. His wife Emily Cabrera,who is also a firefighter at Hialeah Fire Rescue is here with him today to celebrate this milestone. During his tenure he has served at all of the fire stations and communities throughout unincorporated Monroe County. Currently he is the C Shift Lieutenant at Station 8, servicing the Stock Island area. Lieutenant Cabrera was inspired to start a career in the fire service by his cousin Deyman,who is a firefighter at Palm Beach County. He completed his fire 1 and 2 certifications at Coral Springs Fire Academy and Paramedic certification at Florida Medical Training Institute. During his career he has obtained many certifications such as Rope Ops and Vehicle Machinery Rescue. He plans to continue to expand his knowledge and move up the ranks. Lt. Cabrera said, "I'm so proud to serve Monroe County the best way I know how and passing on my knowledge to those who will carry on our legacy. Over the past 10 years, my mission has been to provide the best service to our community. I'm glad to be a part of a department and a family that prioritizes excellent service and high-performance standards." 22
