John Hamburger is being recognized for 20 years of service with Monroe County Fire Rescue. His wife
Carla and children, Luke,Jolie, and Jordan, are here with him today to celebrate this milestone.
During his tenure he has served at all of the fire stations and communities throughout unincorporated
Monroe County. Currently he is the B Shift Lieutenant at Station 22, servicing the Tavernier area.
Lieutenant Hamburger began his journey in the fire service right after High School. He completed his fire
and EMT certifications at Central Florida Fire Academy and Paramedic at Florida Medical Training
Institute. Since then, he has obtained many certifications such as Instructor 2, Fire Officer 2 and his
associate's degree in Fire Science.
Lt. Hamburger said, "I will always be grateful to Monroe County Fire Rescue for giving me an
opportunity in the fire service.They saw potential in me when others didn't, and that changed the
course of my life."
