A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA REGARDING THE
SOUTH FLORIDA REGIONAL PLANNING
COUNCIL TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT
WHEREAS,F.S. 186.504, Regional planning councils; creation; membership.-provides
for the creation of comprehensive planning districts within the state of Florida; and
WHEREAS,in accordance with F.S. 184.504, the South Florida Regional Planning
Council (SFRPC)was created and encompasses the geographic areas of Broward County,
Miami-Dade County and Monroe County and all of their municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the membership is comprised of two elected official members from Monroe
County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), as the representing governing body; and
WHEREAS, The BOCC recently decided to continue its participation in the SFRPC; and
WHEREAS, the meetings of the SFRPC rotate among various locations in Broward,
Miami-Dade and Monroe County, therefore travel costs are incurred for participation; and
WHEREAS, the SFRPC will reimburse the County for travel costs incurred at the State
travel reimbursement rates in accordance with Sec. 112.061, Florida Statutes (F.S.)-Per Diem
and travel expenses of public officers, employees, and authorized persons, statewide travel
management plan; and
WHEREAS, the travel reimbursement rates in accordance with Chapter 2, Division 3-
Travel, Per Diem, Meals and Millage Policy and specifically Sec. 2-110 and 2-111, Monroe
County Code are higher than the state travel rates; and
WHEREAS, the Board by adoption of this resolution agrees that the BOCC members
will be reimbursed at the higher County travel rates and will pay the excess travel rates above
those State travel rates reimbursed by the SFRPC;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. The BOCC hereby agrees that the County will reimburse the County Commissioners
serving on the SFRPC at the County travel rates in accordance with Sec. 2-110 and 2-
111, Monroe County Code and will reimburse the County Commissioners for the cost
incurred above the travel rates reimbursed by the SFRPC at the State travel rates as set
forth in F.S. 112.061.
2. The BOCC directs staff to process request for travel reimbursement in accordance with
the directive as set forth above.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida,
at a meeting of said Board held on the 12th day of November 2025.
