A Miami native and graduate of Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School, Lucio originally pursued a business major and worked in his family's export company, managing complex software systems and accounting. He often says he entered the fire service "by coincidence," after attending a Key Largo Volunteer Fire Department meeting with a friend—an experience that sparked his passion for the profession. Motivated by this new direction, Lucio completed the First Responder class at the Key Largo Volunteer Fire Department night school and went on to earn his EMT and Paramedic certifications from the Florida Medical Training Institute. Determined to continue advancing, he saved diligently to attend the Miami-Dade College Firefighter Minimum Standards course. He later earned dual associate degrees in Fire Science and Medical Services from Braxton College. Throughout his career, Lucio has been supported by his high school sweetheart and now wife, Joselyn, and their children, Christopher and Emma, who are here with him today to celebrate this milestone. Lucio shared, `I am grateful to be able to do this job. I believe in this service, and I am humbled and appreciative for this opportunity." 18
