AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of a Utility Easement to the Florida Keys Aqueduct
Authority (FKAA) for the purpose of installing a water main from the site of the FKAA reverse osmosis
plant, currently under construction on Crawl Key, to the Right-of Way of Overseas Hwy. Approval for
the Mayor to execute the easement only after it is finalized and approved by the County Attorney for
execution.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
FKAA is currently constructing a reverse osmosis water plant at 56625 Overseas Hwy on Crawl Key.
The property currently has an Implied Easement by Necessity allowing ingress/egress across a driveway
at 56633 Overseas Highway. The driveway currently serves Joe London Fire Academy and the Monroe
County Medical Examiner's office. The requested utility easement will memorialize and approve
FKAA's installation of a 20" water main through Monroe County property to the Right-of-Way of
Overseas Hwy.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
2022-02-12 Monroe County conveyed a portion of Crawl Key to the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority
for the purpose of building a wastewater treatment plant to serve the City of Marathon.
