RESOLUTION NO. 252 -1996
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
IN RECOGNITION OF THE LATE GLYNN ARCHER, JR.
WHEREAS, Mr. Glynn Archer, Jr., a native and lifelong resident of Key West, has
passed away at the age of 59; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Archer was a highly regarded member of the community, known
for his love of sports, education, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Archer, who retired in 1995 after serving 13 years as assistant
superintendent of the Monroe County School District, also served as a teacher, Assistant
Principal of Key West High School, and Principal of Key West High School, and was
dedicated to the students of Monroe County, continuing to volunteer with the school
system even after his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Archer was an active member of the Key West United Methodist
Church, where he sang in the choir every Sunday; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Archer was an avid sportsman from his days as a student and
football, basketball, and baseball team member at Key West High School through
adulthood and was, for eleven years, a coach for the KWHS Jr. Varsity Football team,
remaining a staunch fan of the Key West High School teams throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Archer was Senior Sports Writer/Editor for 24 years, covering all

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA that
Section 1.
The Board hereby adopts this Resolution as evidence of its regret
and mourning for the passing of the late Glynn Archer, Jr., and in recognition of his
extensive dedication and vast public service to the people of Key West.
Section 2.
The Board hereby requests the Clerk to forward copies of this
Resolution to Mr. Archer's widow, Sandy Archer, to express the Board's sorrow.
