Approval of a Sixth Amendment in the amount of $12,350.00 to the Agreement with Bender & Associates Architects, P.A. for Architectural and Engineering Services for the Facility Assessment and Design of Wind Retrofits at 10 County Buildings project. This Sixth Amendment adds additional structural testing services for the replacement of the roof at the Monroe County Detention Center on Stock Island. Funding is provided by a FDEM-HMGP grant (75%) and Local Match (25%). County portion will be paid by the One Cent Infrastructure Sales Tax (Fund 304). This Sixth Amendment to the Agreement for Professional Architectural and Engineering Services dated th August 17, 2022, (“Agreement”)is made and entered into this 28day of January 2026, by and between Monroe County (“County”) and Bender & Associates Architects, P.A. ("Consultant"), in order to amend the Agreement as follows: WHEREAS, the parties entered into an Agreement on August 17, 2022, for the Consultant to provide professional architectural and engineeringservicesfor the facility assessment and design of wind- retrofits at 10 County buildings ("Project"); and WHEREAS, the parties executed a First Amendment to the Agreementon March 22, 2023, to add additional services including Demolition and Patching for Investigative Testing and to revise the Cost Estimating Services; and WHEREAS, the parties executed a Second Amendment to the Agreement on March 22, 2023, to add additional services for storm hardening of the Clock Tower and the Historic Monroe County Courthouse in Key West; and WHEREAS, the parties executed a Third Amendment to the Agreement on September 20, 2023, to add additional services for replacing the roofs of the Ellis Building and the Marathon Government Center; and WHEREAS, the parties executed a Fourth Amendment to the Agreement on November 8, 2023, to add additional testing and surveying services for the permit requirements in order to secure building permits; and WHEREAS, the parties executed a Fifth Amendment to the Agreement on November 12, 2025, to add architectural and engineering design services for the replacement of the Stock Island Monroe County Detention Center (MCDC) roof; and WHEREAS, during an inspection of the MCDC Stock Island roof, it was determined that additional testing, including some selective demolition of the roof, is needed as part of the design process. NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises contained herein, the parties hereby agree as follows: 1.In accordance with Article III of the Agreement, the Consultant shall provide additional testing services for the design of the roof replacement of the Monroe County Detention Center on Stock Island. The scope of work includes utilizing the services of a licensed roofing company to perform the temporary removal of two (2) areas of the roof in order to access the structural part of the roof to confirm the building structure and calculate the uplift forces.
