on the Board's January 28, 2026, Regular Public Meeting Agenda.
ITEM BACKGROUND: In 2005, at Monroe County's request, the State of Florida ("State")
expanded the Florida Forever land acquisition project to include most Tier 1 lands. As required by the
State's boundary amendment process, Monroe County committed to serve as the land manager for
those lands where no state or federal manager was available. In 2007, the County entered into a land
management lease (Lease No. 4549) with the State for the initial group of parcels purchased by the
State pursuant to the boundary amendment. Since 2007, the County has approved Amendment Nos. 1
- 31 to the Lease to include additional parcels purchased by the State. The proposed corrected
amendment (Amendment No. 30) adds additional State-owned parcels to the existing management
lease. The BOCC approved Amendment 30 at their January 28, 2026 meeting as part of agenda item
F3. However, a revision to Amendment 30 is required to correct the included legal description of
leased parcels.
Funding for any potential land management activities (invasive exotic plant removal, trash cleanup,
etc.) will come from State exotic plant removal funding and County permitting fees paid into the
Environmental Land Management and Restoration Fund.

WHEREAS, LEISSOR, by virtue of Section 253.03, Florida Statutes, holds title to certain lands and property for the
use and benefit of the State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, on Novernber 14,2007, LESSOR arid LL'SSI--,'F entered into Lease Number 4549 (the "lease-); and
WHERE,AS, I-ESSOR and LESSEE desire to arnend the lease wadd land to the leased premises.
