AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to issue a competitive solicitation for services associated
with the Social Services Transportation Disadvantaged Program, coordinated through the Department
of Community Services, to include paratransit and demand-response transportation services for
eligible residents throughout Monroe County. Funding is through General Fund and/or Government
Fund Type Grants.
ITEM BACKGROUND: The Monroe County Community Services Department desires the services
of a contractor to enhance mobility and independence for eligible elderly, disabled, and transportation-
disadvantaged residents by providing reliable and accessible paratransit solutions and demand-
response transportation services throughout Monroe County in order to satisfy the requirements of
Chapter 427, Fla. Stat. These services support elderly individuals and persons with disabilities, and are
critical to maintaining access to medical care, essential services, and community participation.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: Monroe County BOCC approved Item G1 on
09/03/2025 which transitioned said Program services from in-house operations to an independent
contractor.
